The musée du Mur de l’Atlantique (Atlantic Wall Museum) is housed in the former German headquarters which commanded the artillery units of the Orne estuary. You can visit all five floors of the Grand Bunker, where every room has been recreated in painstaking detail: the engine room, gas filter room, adjoining pillbox, barrack-room, pharmacy, infirmary, armoury, ammunition store, radio room, telephone switchboard and the observation post equipped with a powerful range-finder which will enable you to view the Bay of the Seine over a radius of 40 kilometres. There is also an exhibition telling the story of the 20th century’s biggest building site on which, for a period of three years, some two million people worked. It features a large number of photos and previously unpublished documents relating to the Atlantic Wall.
