VASCOEUIL

Park of the Château de Vascoeuil

Parks and gardens

Sculpture and nature. In a beautiful natural setting on the edge of the forest of Lyons and in the heart of the Andelle Valley. The park of this 16th & 17th château is a veritable open-air sculpture gallery with more than fifty bronzes, marbles, ceramics and mosaics by the greatest modern artists. Behind the chateau the style is strictly French, with straight and symmetrical paths around the flower beds of a formal garden (desinged in 1774) edged with beech trees. These contrast with the freedom of the English-style parkland, where nature reasserts its right in the river's tumbling meanders or centuries-old oaks. Riverside tearoom.
