This museum near the famous Omaha Beach takes visitors back to a time when Europe’s fate was in the hands of the Allies. An eyewitness and figure in the Battle’s reconstruction has spent over 40 years compiling the collection of over 10,000 pieces found mostly on Normandy soil to retrace the history of the Normandy Invasion to the liberation of Paris. From soldiers’ belongings to the period’s biggest tanks weighing up to 50 tons, the 6 armies based in occupied France appear here in full-scale reconstructed scenes using vehicles, tanks and cannons.
