TOUROUVRE AU PERCHE

Museum of French Emigration to Canada

Museums

For almost 4 centuries, Tourouvre and in general Le Perche, have very close links with Canada.
The contemporary and interactive scenography of this museum allows the visitors to embark for New France. This former French colony covered an area from the mouth of the Saint-Laurent (Quebec) to the Mississippi Delta (Louisiana). 400 years ago, the Percherons were among the first to go settle in these unknown lands, to clear forests to grow crops, build houses, in one word: to found a new country, Canada.

As early as the 17th century, many french people, 270 of whom were from the Perche, crossed the Atlantic ocean, to settle in New France. The French emigration to Canada museum offers a travel in time in a friendly and playfull atmospher. You will discover how frendship started between the two nations, since the arrival of the first settlers up to today. It is possible to organise workshop, theme tour and snack for groups.
