Located within the 18th century Hotel Dieu building, the museum is situated on the right bank of the Vire. Furniture, costumes and craft workshops evoke life in the Bocage during the 19th century. The history of the town of Vire is showcased through the works of its famous sons. The romance of Normandy is evoked in the magnificent decorative panels of Paul Huet. Also on display is the backdrop from the studio of the painter and caricaturist Charles Léandre. The bestiary, which uses drawings and sculptures from the museum’s collections to provide a panorama of wildlife art. A new temporary exhibition will be on show for you to enjoy.
