Manoir de Soisay

Chateaux

The manor of Soisay was built by François du Grenier around 1530 with 4 buildings arranged in "haute et basse cours". It was then sold to Ansleme de Fontenay in 1600, who was made "seigneur-chatlain" by the king. Anselme de Fontenay and Marie de la Marteière built a large extention and embellished the place, with the north gable and the ones on each side of the main house, the chapel, the oven, the stables and the pigeon loft. Today the manor is mainly used as an art galery for modern and contemporary artists. Some artists work and live there during the summer.
