BOIS-GUILBERT

Le Jardin des Sculptures, Château de Bois-Guilbert

Parks and gardens

This 17-acre park is an hymn to nature and to sculpture. Jean-Marc de Pas, landscape artist and sculptor, has created a vast poetic setting for 70 works in bronze, resin or cement. A XVIIth century sweet chestnut, 200-year-old plane trees and various symbolic spaces- a pond with an island, a boxwood maze, a cloister evoking the four seasons – are dotted around the family estate with its 17th and 18th century château, pavilion and chapel, which has played host to major figures such as the poet and playwright Pierre Corneille, a cousin of the family’s ancestors.
Activities, workshops, courses, cultural events: July – September: 9th biennale of sculpture (in honour of Camille Claudel with 30 exhibiting sculptors). Sunday 23/8: 6th Bois-Guilbert Retro show with a gathering of old and prestige cars. Permanent exhibition with 20 displays on the life and work of Pierre Le Pesant of Boisguilbert.
