LE HAVRE

TALL SHIPS REGATTA LE HAVRE

To commemorate the 500 years of the city and the port, Le Havre will be the arrival port of the RDV2017 Tall Ships Regatta. This arrival will be a great event called “Les Grandes Voiles du Havre” : some of the largest tall ships in the world will dock in the harbor for four days of celebrations.
The ships’ crew members will offer free visits of their vessels and there will be a whole host of events on the wharves, with a special village, a parade of the ships’ crews, fireworks and plenty more to see and do.
Tall ships will leave Le Havre Sunday, the 3rd of September for a great parade in front of Le Havre’s beach : the first tall ships will begin to move from 7 am (Paul Vatine’s and Eure bassins), they will join the entrance of the port (near Musée Malraux) from 8.30 and the parade will end at 11.30.
The Tall Ships races have been held since the 1950s to showcase this wonderful marine heritage and foster exchanges between young people of different nationalities.

The RDV2017 Tall Ships Regatta will set off from Greenwich in Great Britain to join Sinès in Portugal, then the Bermudas, Boston (USA), Quebec City, Halifax (Canada) and then Le Havre.
Fifty young people from Le Havre will be lucky enough to embark on the ships and spend several days at sea.
