Deauville Gourmet Gourmand

"The food planet is restless... Nowadays, people want to consume differently: they want good, nice, healthy, friendly food in different moments of the day."
The concept of this new event: a gastronomical, friendly and tasty market, joining the best of gastronomy through a wide range of exclusive products, the discovery of wines with French producers and wines of the New World, regional products, delicatessen or organic food…but also culinary activities, cocktails, elegant happy hours, oenological itineraries, “do-it-yourself” lessons for festive tables...and the presence of chefs.
This event includes seven categories: salted delicatessen, catering products, dairy products, fish and sweets, wines and spirits, gifts and decoration objects.
5 major culinary trends:
- The food waste is over: ugly fruits and vegetables, use of stems in cuisine, zero waste.
- Consumer awareness about what is eaten: the provenance of food, the traceability of animals, sustainable fishing, farming and breeding techniques, as little as possible processed products (success of organic products, sustainable agriculture, short circuits, varied and healthy street food,…).
- Eating local products fascinates and reassures French people: the Made in France is for 60% of French people a guarantee of quality.
- Having trust in revisited tradition: consumers love tasting traditional recipes, flavours and recipes adjusted to current times through safe and recognizable more than revolutionary products.
- The passion for cooking and the winning bet of the cuisine workshops is back: following the principle of “good food, healthy food”, the cuisine workshops represent a real trend and fascinate many food lovers (cuisine kits, home chefs,..).
6 great trends of wine consumption:
- Easy-drinking wines, all year round: consumers mainly looking for digestible and drinkable wines, “fruity, easy-drinking, smooth” wines.
- "Outside France" wines generate a genuine interest: American, Italian, Spanish wines in particular titillate the curiosity of wine lovers. The fascination of consumers for the wines of the New World is due, of course, to their exotic character. Drinking these wines is like “having a taste of” these far away countries.
- Some essential wines of the New World: the Chardonnay from New Zealand, the Pinotage from South Africa, the Mendoza from Argentina, the Cabernet Sauvignon from the Napa Valley (California, USA), the Syrah from Australia.
- Long life to the cocktails: a trend launched by the Spritz cocktail, mixing prosecco, Aperol and sparkling eater, including rosé-based cocktails, sparkling wines.
- Craze for the wine-growers’ wines: some wine-growers want to work independently from the AOP decree. They spend a lot of time explaining their production methods and why their special cuvee is sold as “vin de pays” or “vin de France” and not as AOP, costing about € 15. These wines are often considered by wine lovers as “petites pépites” (small nuggets), that would have been much more valuable as an appellation, of course.
- The appellations are booming: Pic-saint-loup, faugères, crozes-hermitage and vacqueyras…
